1. Worship with Joy, Shouting, and Celebration


Psalm 47:1 – “O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.”

Psalm 95:1-2 – “O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.”

Psalm 100:1-2 – “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.”

Psalm 149:1-3 – “Praise ye the LORD… Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.”

Psalm 150:1-6 – “Praise him with the sound of the trumpet… praise him upon the loud cymbals… let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD.”

2. Lifting Hands and Expressive Worship


Psalm 63:4 – “Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.”

Psalm 134:2 – “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.”

Nehemiah 8:6 – “And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands.”

1 Timothy 2:8 – “I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.”




3. Dancing and Physical Expression in Worship


2 Samuel 6:14-15 – “And David danced before the LORD with all his might… So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.”

Psalm 30:11 – “Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness.”

Jeremiah 31:13 – “Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy.”




4. Spirit-Inspired Praise, Prophecy, and Tongues


Acts 2:1-4 – “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

Acts 2:13-17 – “Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine… But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel.”

1 Corinthians 14:15 – “I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.”

Ephesians 5:18-19 – “Be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”




5. Instruments and Musical Worship


2 Chronicles 5:13-14 – “It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one… that the house was filled with a cloud… for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.”

1 Chronicles 15:16 – “David spake… to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.”

Psalm 98:4-6 – “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD… with trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.”




6. Rejoicing in the Presence and Power of God


Luke 19:37-40 – “The whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen… He answered and said… if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.”

Habakkuk 3:18-19 – “Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”

Philippians 4:4 – “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.”

1 Peter 1:8 – “Ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.”




7. The Overflow of the Spirit


John 7:37-39 – “He that believeth on me… out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit…).”

Romans 14:17 – “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”

Romans 15:13 – “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”



8. Biblical Examples of Exuberant Encounters


1 Samuel 10:6, 10 – “The Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee… and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.”

Luke 1:41-42 – “Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: and she spake out with a loud voice.”

Acts 4:31 – “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.”
